Le Wine Bar des Marolles

In the heart of the historic area of Brussels, Les Marolles, is Le Wine Bar des Marolles. Created by Vincent Thomaes in 2007, after 25 years as sommelier at Château du Mylord in Ellezelles (a two star Michelin establishment). Vincent and his very talented team continue to amaze us with, of course, an incredible wine card, but also with their food.

The restaurant is very welcoming with intimate lighting and beautiful artwork. They are situated among the antique dealers and their interior continues in that same eclectic idea.

We started with Iberian ham and mussels in Poulette sauce, accompanied by Laherte Frère champagne. A natural champagne made in small production. As starters, we shared a scallop carpaccio with radish, lychee and rose. Slightly on the sweet side, but very creative. And the Rossini beef tartar, which was beautiful! As mains we shared Iberian pork cheek with red cabbage, apple and four spices blend. Very flavorful and the meat was perfectly soft and full of flavor. And the skrei with celery root, salsify and bisque mousseline. A real delight! The skrei was flaky, the bisque mousseline had a great lobster taste and the vegetables were perfectly cooked, still with a satisfying bite. A very creamy vanilla ice cream with a caramel filet ended this delicious meal.

A very pleasant evening and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. The wine list is very impressive, which is understandable seeing the background of Vincent Thomaes. A lot of care and thought goes into the dishes, wine card and decor. And it all comes together with very attentive service. It allows for everyone to just sit back, relax and enjoy the moment.

They don’t have vegetarian dishes on the menu, but can have an option available with a 24 hour request. Dogs are welcome. And a private room upstairs can be reserved for groups from 10 to 26 guests.

Open from Thursday to Sunday for dinner and Saturday and Sunday for lunch.
