Vismet
Vismet has been around for as long as I can remember, an institution at Place Sainte-Catherine that always serves perfect fish dishes. The restaurant is situated just behind Sainte-Catherine Church, operated by a husband and wife duo who work in perfect harmony between the kitchen and the tables.
Some of my favorite dishes here are their shrimp croquettes, fish soup, and sole meunière. On my last visit, I had one of their specials: a perfectly cooked swordfish, simply served with olive oil and herbs, and a side of silky mashed potatoes. As a starter, we shared a portion of shrimp croquettes, of course, full of little grey shrimp, delicate flavors, and a satisfying crunch.
For those who prefer meat, they serve excellent filet mignon dishes and an américain “à la minute” with fries and salad.
A delightful restaurant with great service and dishes you can count on with each visit.
