Café du Parc - Ostend
Tucked away from the seaside bustle yet at the heart of Ostend, Café du Parc is more than just a café; it’s a piece of the city’s living history. Established in the early 20th century, this elegant venue became a beloved fixture for both locals and visitors alike. With its art deco wood paneling, polished marble tables, and timeless charm, Café du Parc has long been a stylish gathering place, blending the allure of a bygone era with thoughtful, modern touches.
Chez Jacques
Chez Jacques is back in business after its winter break, and we couldn’t be happier! This fish market institution sits just in front of Sainte-Catherine metro station, a place I visit at least once a month. Everything is delicious!
Al Piccolo Mondo
On Christmas Eve 2023, it was just the two of us, and I wanted to make the evening special. Having spent time compiling a list of restaurants for the holidays, I decided to follow my own recommendation this year. Al Piccolo Mondo had an outstanding menu available on December 24th, and the ambiance was perfect for celebrating this special day.
Yi Chan
Yi Chan is an exceptional Asian restaurant, a few steps away from the Brussels Stock Exchange/Bourse/Beurs, on the popular Jules Van Praet street. The award winning bartender and owner, Yen Pham, makes exceptional cocktails. But the food is what makes me come back here every time.
Mangia Sempre
Mangia Sempre, a perfect place for an Italian aperitivo. This sweet little shop has not only great cheeses and meats to sample on their terrace but it’s also a store with delicious pasta, sauces and other Italian products to cook at home. You can wash that all down with natural wines or beers from Brasserie de la Mule and Brasserie Cantillon.
Gourmet Everyday
Gourmet Everyday has been around now for 20 years. An authentic Chinese restaurant near Bourse/Beurs and Place Sainte-Catherine. Very reasonably priced!
Nénu
Nénu is by far one of my top places to eat. A mecca for food sharing on a spectacular level. Situated on a pedestrian parallel street from Avenue Louise in Saint-Gilles, it’s a nice contrast from the high fashion shopping area. On my last visit, my daughter and I had a memorable lunch, sipping cocktails and watching the chef and his team do their thing in the open kitchen.
Chez Jacques
Nestled amongst the fish market (Vismaarkt / Marché aux Poissons) tourist traps is Chez Jacques. A 60 year old family owned brasserie that’s sure to please everyone . Classic Belgian dishes in a typical Brussels wood interior. Perfectly situated right in front of Sainte-Catherine metro in the centre of Brussels. Here you can depend on good honest food every time.
