Mission Massala’s Bombay BBQ
You might know Mission Masala’s two other establishments in Antwerp and Ghent. Booming with success, they’ve now extended their kitchen to Brussels with their new address: Bombay BBQ.
The creators behind these little gems are husband and wife Tim Van Den Heuvel and Pavan Bajwa. It all started with a food truck and after great success, opened the doors to their first restaurant in Antwerp in 2018.
The brains behind the stove is all Pavan. Born in London, England, by Indian parents, she and her siblings wanted to eat western food, and her father preferred his traditional Indian meals. So her mother made the best of both worlds and Pavan had the advantage of growing up in this perfect fusion kitchen, where east meets west. Her passion for her childhood dishes shines through and can put a smile on anyone’s face. So don’t expect the traditional Indian dishes you find in other restaurants. Bombay BBQ is all about heart warming soul food, spices, textures and finger licking sauces!
Perfectly positioned a street up from Flagey and next to the newly starred neighbors, Humus x Hortense, they’re easy to find. The building they set up shop in was almost abandoned when first saw it and Tim’s perseverance finally got them the keys to the front door. The outside is still getting the last of it’s makeover, but the interior is impressive. A young and vibrant vibe is everywhere. An open space and bright colors invite you to have fun, laugh and enjoy a moment with friends. Expect to be surprised!
The menu offers many vegetarian dishes and meat dishes, so certainly something for everyone. We tried their lamb wrap with mint sauce, a delicious paneer cheese in a spicy curry and charred corn on the cob in a butter sauce that I wanted to eat by the spoon full (I’m not kidding, I would have if no one was watching).
Welcome to Brussels Bombay BBQ!
I loved your laidback atmosphere and overall happiness.
