So, when I heard that Karma Kitchen, the latest venture by the folks behind Mission Masala, was opening in Brussels, I knew I had to share the news with all of you.
Les Brigittines
Les Brigittines, a renowned restaurant located in the historical Marolles district of Brussels, known for its charming Art Nouveau decor and impeccable service. The menu blends traditional Belgian cuisine with modern creativity, with Chef Dirk Myny crafting refined, seasonal dishes using locally sourced ingredients.
Le Plattesteen
Le Plattesteen has been a beloved part of Brussels' scene forever—or at least since 1936, to be exact! Nestled in the Quartier St-Jacques, it's surrounded by classic Brussels charm and history, just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Grand Place and Manneken Pis.
Crush
True to its name, Crush is undoubtedly a place that you can easily fall in love with. This charming bistro at Place du Béguinage is just a street away from the fish market and Sainte-Catherine metro station. I've had the pleasure of dining here twice in the last couple of months, and their côte à l’os is truly remarkable.
Al Piccolo Mondo
On Christmas Eve 2023, it was just the two of us, and I wanted to make the evening special. Having spent time compiling a list of restaurants for the holidays, I decided to follow my own recommendation this year. Al Piccolo Mondo had an outstanding menu available on December 24th, and the ambiance was perfect for celebrating this special day.
In t’Spinnekopke
On a cold November evening, nothing warms the heart like a comforting meal at In t’ Spinnekopke. This historical establishment in the center of Brussels is one of those unique places where you feel like you're walking back in time. The old wooden doors and creaking floors add to the charm and welcome you in like a warm hug.
L’Express
In my ongoing quest to discover the best affordable meals in Brussels, I'd like to introduce you to L'Express. Nestled on a charming side street just off the famous Grande Place, this restaurant is far more than your typical fast-food joint. L'Express specializes in Lebanese cuisine, serving up incredibly fresh and authentic dishes that stay true to their native roots.
Anju
Nestled in the heart of Saint-Gilles, a hidden culinary gem awaits – Anju. For those familiar with the culinary world, the name Sang Hoon Degeimbre needs no introduction. Renowned for his exceptional talents showcased in his Michelin-star restaurant: Air du Temps, as well as San Sablon, Vertige, and Korean Tiger, Chef Sang Hoon Degeimbre has now unveiled his latest creation: Anju.
Zeitoun
The little green oasis in Brussels center has some of the best Lebanese food in town. Zeitoun is a great place for lunch on a warm summer day, their terrace is filled with plants and eclectic furniture. A perfect place for a relaxing and peaceful meal. Everything is home made and they pride themselves on their products.
Mizu
Last week I was invited to try Mizu, a Japanese restaurant at Châtelain, Ixelles and it was a really great experience. Not only are the dishes fresh and well made, they have a tablet ordering system that allows you to pick and choose as you go along.
Wantany
The first word that comes to mind when I think of Wantany is : home. Coming to Wantany is like a welcoming hug. You’re always welcomed with a warm smile, either by owner Nadège Witco or her sister. During the lunch service, you will find Nadège’s mother hard at work in the kitchen. Making all those handmade wontons they’re famous for.
Frank
Needing a little me-time before my shift on a Wednesday, I headed over to Frank restaurant for one of their famous eggs Benedicts. I wasn’t disappointed! I was stunned to see this perfect poached egg and mouth watering smoked salmon in front of me.
Yi Chan
Yi Chan is an exceptional Asian restaurant, a few steps away from the Brussels Stock Exchange/Bourse/Beurs, on the popular Jules Van Praet street. The award winning bartender and owner, Yen Pham, makes exceptional cocktails. But the food is what makes me come back here every time.
Toucan sur Mer
An incredible establishment for anything seafood. We had shellfish until we couldn’t shellfish no more! Of course, seafood comes at a price, but this place is incredibly fresh and the service is great!
Mangia Sempre
Mangia Sempre, a perfect place for an Italian aperitivo. This sweet little shop has not only great cheeses and meats to sample on their terrace but it’s also a store with delicious pasta, sauces and other Italian products to cook at home. You can wash that all down with natural wines or beers from Brasserie de la Mule and Brasserie Cantillon.
Mission Massala’s Bombay BBQ
You might know Mission Masala’s two other establishments in Antwerp and Ghent. Booming with success, they’ve now extended their kitchen to Brussels with their new address: Bombay BBQ.
