Jardin des olives

On the Brussels pedestrian street Marché au Charbon sits a little gem: a tiny bistro brimming with charm and warmth, serving bistronomy cuisine in its finest form. It's well worth discovering. This creation by Nancy Delsanne and Grégory Huon is a perfect extension to their wine bar and épicerie fine, also named Jardin des olives, just two doors away.

The dishes were inventive and beautifully presented. We started with mussels in a potato espuma, topped with finely cut little fries and powdered seaweed, along with black pudding scotch eggs. We were impressed—both were superb. We followed up with freshly made pappardelle with wild boar ragù and Parmesan, and Brussels trout from Bigh in Anderlecht, accompanied by the most delicious side of coarsely mashed new potatoes, fennel, apples, and gray shrimp salad. We tried to go for dessert, but we were just too full.

The prices are very friendly considering the quality and quantity of the dishes. The three-course meal is €49, two courses for €42, and €36 for just a main dish. Seriously, opting for a two or three-course menu is well worth it.
